About Alex Ding

When I first started this site, I had a dilemma:

How can this site reflect who I am without it being a personal diary?

The answer became clear after reading A Book of Five Rings, a book written by an undefeated Japanese swordsman and ronin, named Miyamoto Musashi.

In the introduction, Musashi wrote:

I have lived without following any particular Way. Thus, with the virtue of strategy, I practice many arts and abilities – all things with no teacher.

Musashi studied the art of combat from many different schools, without “traditional guidance.” He disregarded the heirearchial system — the ranks and grades — and instead, took pieces here and there from all disciplines to hone his skills.

In the same way, this site will have my thoughts about many different topics. Pieces here and pieces there, all acquired with no teacher. My message can be summarized in four categories:

  • power
  • wealth
  • love & relationships
  • faith

The first three are very much related, while faith is often disregarded. However, faith may be the most important among the four. As Jesus said …

What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul? – Mark 8:36

Through these four categories, it is my goal to show you how to be a Man.

What does it mean to be a Man? Basically, it means to be free, to be courageous, and to be in control of your own destiny. In today’s day and age, men lack freedom, courage, and control. I will show you how to take them back.

Freedom is man’s capacity to take a hand in his own development. It is our capacity to mold ourselves. – Rollo May

Warning: Truth surpasses feelings. I’m here to tell the truth. I’m here to tell you how things are and what you can do to become a ronin, unbound to any master. There will be parts that are difficult to accept. For the sake of truth, my message will not be toned down. If you want to become a Man, and if you are brave enough to deal with the truth, I welcome you to read further.
