Confessions of an Online Hustler (Book Review)

I wanna be an online hustler. There. I said it. So I’m always on the lookout for something … anything that will help me establish a dominance in the internet superhighway.

About a week ago, I got a book, titled Confessions of an Online Hustler: How to Make Money and Become an Internet Superstar, written by Matt Forney. Every time I receive a new book, with such a scintillating title, I could not wait to tear it open and dig right in.

Will I find some magical elixir that will give me overnight success? Will I get concrete, step-by-step actions to take to make my millions? Will this book give my websites an edge? Or will I just find repackaged garbage?

As you can see, Confessions of an Online Hustler focuses a lot on blogging. (If you’re not down with the lingo, blogging is a fancy word for writing online.) First, the book helps you decide if you should starting writing online. And second, if you decide to establish an online presence, it teaches you how to become popular and how to make money.

What’s my final verdict? Read on …

Should You Get Confessions of an Online Hustler?

In the book, you will not find motivational fluff. It will not tell you how easy it is to make good coin through the internet. It will not present stories of how a total internet newbie made millions overnight. It will not tell you that you will succeed, as long as you can envision it.

No, it is much more realistic and much more useful. You will find roughly 100 pages of cold-steel truth. It will not be easy and it definitely will not be instantaneous. You will work your butt off.

If you are willing to put in the time and effort, the book will teach you everything you will need to get you started on your path to online fame and riches. If you want to be a successful blogger, in my not-so-humble opinion, pay special attention to chapter 2, How to Become a Better Writer.

As much as I like book, there is one thing you should be aware of. Matt Forney wrote the book for a male audience. And males could sometimes be crude. If you are easily offended, you may want to skip it. For example, one phrase that stood out was “smooth as a teen girl’s butt.” Let’s say you’re a teen girl and you don’t have a smooth butt. And thus, you’re easily offended and skip the book. Now not only is your butt not smooth, you definitely lost out on actionable tips for fame and fortune.

I’ve been working on my website for a little less than 2 years now, in an non-researched, less-than-stellar niche. I am making money; I have achieved the elusive passive stream of income. (I am not satisfied and am always looking for ways to increase the cash flow.) It is safe to say that I know a bit about online hustling. And yet, I still learned something from the book.

Overall, I highly recommend Confessions of an Online Hustler, even if you are a veteran blogger. There is a wealth of quality, meaty information. You’re bound to learn something new.

The most successful people are not those who think they know everything. The most successful people are those who always knows there is something more to learn and will seek after it.
